In order for a relationship to go as smoothly as possible and for those involved to feel good about it, it is best to know certain rules. You also have to know what you want, what you deserve, and have the courage to express it and ask for it.
Your relationship, whether romantic or not, should make you happy and satisfied, not stifled, repressed, or unloved. A lot of people stay in lame relationships just because they can’t stand being alone or can’t imagine their life without the person, even if their current situation isn’t right for them anymore.
Everyone deserves respect, compassion, and love in relationships, but if you feel like your partner isn’t giving you that, you might want to rethink your relationship with him or her.
Here are 10 important things you should never put up with in a relationship:
1 . EMOTIONAL UNAVAILABILITY
Your partner must be emotionally available; otherwise, you will not be able to have a successful relationship with him. If he’s feeling threatened or afraid to show his emotions, he probably has some deep-seated issues that he needs to work out before he can commit to a healthy and successful relationship.
Now, of course there will be negativity in any relationship in life, but that shouldn’t trump a positive attitude. A negative outlook on life will result in negative thoughts, and ultimately, a negative mind. People who focus on the negative tend to have low energy, blame others for their problems, and in general, they won’t be the most fun.
Never settle for someone who displays this negativity in life – they will only demean you in the process.
3. CONTINUING INDIGENCE
Of course, feeling wanted and needed in a relationship is normal, but it can go too far if you’re not careful. Most people like to have a partner who asks them for help with certain things or who just needs a hug or shoulder to cry sometimes. These things are completely normal, which is not normal though, is an overly clingy needy partner who seems unable to do anything without you.
It is important to feel independent, so a partner who is totally dependent on you should give you the alert.
4. THE IRRESPECTIVE LANGUAGE
First and foremost, a healthy relationship begins with mutual respect. You should never tolerate someone who insults you, puts you down, or makes you uncomfortable in any way. Even if you have an argument, it doesn’t give your partner the right to treat you disrespectfully just because they can’t control what they’re saying.
Finally, you should never tolerate a partner who never wants to take responsibility and is unable to cope. The responsibilities we have as adults are no fun admittedly, but he should at least take on the tasks and responsibilities necessary for survival, and not rely on you to do all the dirty work.
Always use your discernment in relation to these texts. You have Free Will, so make use of it!
6. THE PRINT OF NOT GOING FIRST
Even though there are other important things in life outside of relationships, your partner should put you ahead of other things. If he or she hangs out with friends more than you, for example, it shows that the person doesn’t take their commitment very seriously.
Never tolerate someone who doesn’t take the time to make you feel special, you deserve someone who will treat you like the king or queen that you are.
7. ABUSE OF TRUST
Aside from respect, mutual trust must exist in a relationship for it to thrive. If you can’t trust your partner, either you should talk to them or you should end the relationship before you invest too much. Both partners need to feel totally comfortable, open, and supported in the relationship for it to work, and a lack of trust will destroy an otherwise healthy relationship.
8. AN ABUSIVE PARTNER
If you have a partner who can’t let you go out without panicking or thinking that you are going to break their trust, then this should definitely be the wake-up call. You should never tolerate someone who feels the need to be in control of all aspects of your life and relationship.
“Toxic relationships can sneakily hit almost anyone. And an abusive partner knows no bounds – anyone, regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation or socioeconomic status can be in controlling relationships, playing a role. “
9. A PARTNER WHO DOESN’T LISTEN
You should both be able to talk honestly and openly to each other. If your partner regularly gives you the impression that your opinion or thoughts don’t matter, it means that he or she doesn’t really like you as a person. And you should never tolerate this kind of behavior in a relationship.
10. SOMEONE WHO DOESN’T SUPPORT YOU IN YOUR DREAMS
Your partner should also support you 200% when it comes to your dreams and goals. You should never tolerate someone who becomes jealous or tries to jeopardize your success, a partner who will truly support you will encourage you and help you along the way.
